Welcome Supporters!

Hello Everyone!
First, I would like to thank everyone for supporting me on this adventure. Whether you are supporting financially or prayerfully, you have been a huge blessing to me. I am very busy getting ready for the trip. I leave 2 weeks from today and I am getting really excited. I have been in contact with my host family. My host mom, Marie-Claude, and I have been e-mailing back and forth. She says that it is just her and her 28 year old daughter in the house along with their new puppy. Her daughter's name is Stephanie and their puppy's name is Gabou. I will have my own room and there are no smokers in the house! She says that there are going to be festivals going on in the town every weekend and her and her daughter are volunteering for a few weekends. She says that it will be difficult for me at first, but she is sure that I will really enjoy this experience. While I am there, I will be studying french grammar, conversation, culture, and phonetics five days a week. Classes will be in the morning and last until mid-afternoon. I will have the rest of the afternoon until dinner to explore the city, go on tours with my group, or spend time with my family. My family and I will eat together for dinner every night and afterward, we will sit around and talk and play games. During the weekends, I will either do things with my family, including going to the festivals in town, going to the beach, or other things, or I will be going on bigger trips with the group. One trip that we will take is a trip to Normandy. We will get to see the beaches that America stormed in WW2 and get to see the WW2 memorial and the cemetery. At the end of our time in St. Brieuc, we will get to stay in Paris for 4 or 5 days before we head back home to Indiana. My communication back home is very limited during my stay. I am allowed one hour of computer time a week and I am not allowed to call, text, or skype. I am allowed to e-mail and blog. I decided to set up a blog so that everyone can be updated on what I am doing. Because of my limited time on the computer, I will not be able to respond to everyone's e-mails. I ask that if you would really like to e-mail me, to only do so a couple times during my trip. I also apologize ahead of time if I am unable to respond to your e-mails. If you do not hear back from me, it is only because I did not have time to respond. Nonetheless, I truly appreciate all of your e-mails and I will get around to reading them eventually. :) I would ask that you just keep me in your prayers as I am preparing to leave and as I am there. Thanks once again for all of your support!
Merci!
Caitlyn

  1. Hello everyone!! We just got back from taking Caitlyn to the airport. She is on her way! We had mixed emotions as we watched her walk away...all of a sudden somehow she seemed so much older...we are so proud of her. She is allowed one phone call home when she gets there to let us know she made it ok...she will be calling us on Tuesday morning. Pray for her safety traveling! And pray for us too... lol :-) Tuesday will be the last time we get to talk to her and hear her voice until she returns July 21st. We are so excited for her! Her host family seems SO nice... Caitlyn will be the 10th student her host family has had... so they are very familiar with the program and very encouraging. This is going to be an adventure that is irreplaceable and one she will never forget! The first time she gets an hour of "english/computer" time will be next Sunday. Feel free to leave brief notes of encouragement for her here on the blog.
    Thanks everyone!
